Lorraine Franco is a Private Adoption Practitioner who is approved to conduct homestudies and supervise adoption placements. Lorraine also has a Private Practice as a Therapist, providing counselling to individuals, couples and families. She is a Registered Social Worker with over 20 years of therapy experience.
She has helped numerous adults, children, and families through difficulties in marital relationships, anxiety, depression, separation and divorce, grief, trauma, and addictions.
She has worked with children with attachment concerns, exposure to trauma and domestic violence, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, autism/aspergers, ODD, OCD, conduct disorder, phobias, school refusal, anger management and behavioural concerns. She specializes in providing adoption competent counselling services to adoptive parents and adoptees.
Lorraine is passionate about her work in Adoption and Family Therapy. Her goal is to help individuals and families attain more joy in their lives and overcome whatever difficulties they encounter. Whether it is related to mental health issues, grief, trauma, marital discord, infertility or addictions, Lorraine has helped numerous clients through complex and multi-layered situations.
Lorraine is a trainer for the Adoption Council of Ontario. She runs a monthly, “How to Adopt” Seminar at the Loblaws in Mississauga. She provides Adoption Competency training to Child Welfare and Mental Health Professions (ACT) and Post-Adoption support and training to adoptive parents (Pathways to Permanence group).
Lorraine has a Masters of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Arts from York University in Psychology. She is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
She is an active member of numerous associations including: the Ontario Association of Social Workers, the Ontario Association of Private Adoption Practitioners, the Adoption Council of Ontario, and the North American Council on Adoptable Children.
Lorraine enjoys marathon running, doing triathlons, hot yoga and pilates, reading and having fun with her two children.
